This chapter explores policy outcomes across European countries. We look at a number of different policy areas, ranging from policies that are decided primarily at the national level (e.g health) to policies that are determined at the EU level (e.g. trade), and those where decision making is shared across different levels of government (e.g. environment and immigration). The chapter focuses on the the role of agenda control and position taking by political parties and other groups, like interest groups and social movements, in explaining variation in policy outcomes. It will look at particular salient issues like health, immigration, environmental and trade policy.
